There are some good sandy beaches at Brem-sur-Mer and
despite its name the actual town is set back some way from the sea. Moving north
from the beaches at des Granges is the beginning of the three and a halve kilometres
of beach known as the Des Dunes followed by the beach at La Normandelière before
reaching the rocks at le Marais-Girard.
Des Dunes. This delightful
stretch of beach has a wide expanse of sand, to the north by the Nautical Centre
there is an area of bedrock that is exposed at low tide. The beach has two
Bases de Surveillance which are operated during the main season. The beach is
backed by the Dunes Domaniales de Bretignolles much of which is a “Park Naturel”
a protected ecological zone.
La Normandelière is a
small beach that runs from the Base Nautique to le Marais-Girard, the area of
sand is much narrower than at Les Dunes and the base rocks are exposed except at
high tide. There is surveillance during the season.

treasures.
