Beaches
Chaume
The coast at Chaume starts off as rocks with the occasional small
sandy beach,
there are
however some areas in and around Fort Saint Nicolas which have sandy or shingle
beaches with rock pools at low tide. These beaches are well sheltered from all
but southerly winds.
The Bassin d'Ombret near Chaume, is a man made swimming pool on
the cote sauvage, which is filled with natural sea water. Access is via the
Corniche du Nouch and there are life guards during the season.
The Plage de la Paracou is
just north of Chaume on the cote sauvage and is close to the dunes and the
forest. It is a small beach amongst the rocks with surveillance from June to mid
September and is particularly popular with fishermen and walkers alike. Dogs are
not allowed on this beach which can be reached from the Rue du
Bargeouti.
