Eating
out has always been one of the pleasures of life, but knowing which
restaurant to choose or in fact where all the restaurants are,
and what type of restaurant it is, can often dent the occasion. We have
listed here most of the Restaurants, creperies, brasserie, pizzeriers in
and around Fontenay le Comte. Many have their menus listed and we are
providing two types of reviews. The first review comes from the general
public via our review page,
you can add your reviews of your favourite restaurant. The second from
our own restaurant critic. The list may not be complete so if you know
of one we've missed we would be grateful if you would let us know, you
can add the restaurant via our add restaurant page.

Well
the 2009 season is underway and we are all geared up to bringing you
more searing restaurant reviews. This year however we are going to
approach the idea in a slightly different way.
Due to the current economic situation we are aware that many people are
stretched financially and are having to make considerable sacrifices to
bring their families abroad for their annual summer holiday. The
shocking state of the British economy has also meant that we have seen
a considerable devaluation of the Pound against the Euro, putting
further pressure on already stretched budgets. As a result of this we
are aware that prudence will be a watchword for many holidaymakers, and
without stinting on things people will be strenuously looking for good
value for money.
So to fall in line with the requirements of this year’s visitors we
will be concentrating our efforts on eating at lunchtime looking for
high quality food at great value for money. Where this journey will
take us I’ve no idea, I’m treating it as a gastronomic adventure and am
looking forward to it immensely. We feel sure that we will be able to
find some excellent eateries, after all a high percentage of “The Rural
French” still eat their main meal at midday. French workmen are no
different and although the sandwich is slowly rearing its head in the
supermarkets, the working French often eat in restaurants at lunchtime.
When they do they expect high quality for a reasonable price.
With all of this in mind we are hopeful of finding great food and some
excellent restaurants. We will leave no stone unturned and will
investigate every serious recommendation in order to bring you top
quality food at rock bottom prices. No doubt the odd evening meal will
slip in at a higher price, but I’m sure that you’ll forgive us for
that.
In the meantime good luck, good health and good eating,
Tate - June 2009
