LES SABLES D'OLONNE
Just a
couple of hundred meters from the sea the three hectares of zoological gardens
at Les Sables D’Olonne offers a chance to get close to over two hundred species
of animals in as realistic a reproduction of their natural habitat as is
possible.
Along with
the normal animals you would expect to see in a zoo such as Tigers, Elephants,
Lions, Monkeys, Sea lions, Tropical birds and Reptiles, you will also find many
endangered species that the zoo is trying to help by educating the public, in
operating captive breeding programs and also by assisting in the protection of
these species in the wild.
Throughout
the day the keepers encourage visitors to join in and witness activities such as
feeding the sea lions, otters, giraffes and countless other
species.
Stroll
amongst the 100 year old trees and tropical plants on paths from one enclosure
to another that runs alongside the stream, or take refreshment on the terrace
overlooking the park and absorb the sights and sounds of the Zoo at Les Sables
d'Olonne.
